What is a Physician Assistant?
A physician assistant (or PA) is a nationally certified and state-licensed medical professional.They practice and prescribe medication in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories, with the exception of Puerto Rico. Physician assistants work in a variety of healthcare settings, from private clinics to major hospitals, with physicians and other providers on healthcare teams. Besides primary care, a major focus of the profession, they also specialize in areas such as emergency and internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, dermatology, and many other fields. These well-paid, in-demand practitioners serve as valuable members of an integrated, multidisciplinary medical team.

The mission of New York Institute of Technology鈥檚 Physician Assistant Program is to provide students with a holistic, learner-centered medical education, producing compassionate healthcare professionals committed to life-long learning and leadership in their careers and communities.

Patient-centered Approach
A patient-centered approach means caring for people holistically while respecting their personal beliefs, experiences, and values. This is essential when treating patients in today鈥檚 world, which is more globally and culturally diverse than ever. Here, you鈥檒l adopt a holistic attitude learning in our classrooms, working in our high-tech labs, and applying this in clinical clerkships available in a wide variety of settings. Upon graduation, you鈥檒l be able to treat patients from a wide spectrum of clinical populations and practice settings.
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination (PANCE), administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Accreditation
The has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the New York Institute of Technology Physician Assistant Program sponsored by New York Institute of Technology. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2029. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.
