 We offer a wide range of student employment opportunities designed to support students鈥� academic, professional, and career development goals. Opportunities may include on-campus and approved off-campus positions through Federal Work-Study (FWS), student aid employment, graduate assistantships, international student employment options, student research opportunities, and other experiential learning roles. New York Institute of Technology鈥檚 student employment programs run from July 1 through June 30. In addition to the opportunities listed below, students are also encouraged to explore our robust  to further build skills, gain experience, and connect their academic learning to future career pathways.

Eligibility/Requirements

• You must be currently enrolled in classes.
• Students on academic notice or disciplinary probation are not eligible to work.
• Students are NOT permitted to work on-campus past the date of graduation unless you are continuing your education at the next program level at 黑料导航.
• During the school year, students may work up to 20 hours per week. In the summer and during breaks, students may work up to 35 hours per week.

Federal Work-Study Program

Positions are fully funded by the U.S. government and are awarded to eligible students as part of their financial aid package. Funds are earned by working on- or off-campus for an hourly wage.

To receive funds, you must file a  (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and indicate you would like to be considered for this program. After the FAFSA has been filed, New York Institute of Technology鈥檚 Office of Financial Aid will determine your eligibility and level of funding.

Check your  financial aid information and your FWS award package. If you do not see an award, but think you may be eligible, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

Federal Work-Study Community Service: Students who have FWS can use these funds to work off-campus at non-profit employers that have an agreement with 黑料导航. These positions offer excellent resume-building experiences and opportunities to network. Positions are open to students of all majors. If you participate in service or volunteer with a non-profit organization and would like to earn your FWS funds there, please contact ose@nyit.edu so we can set up an agreement.

• Select Accept/Decline.
• Click the “Edit” button to accept your college Federal Work-Study award

Veterans Work-Study

Veteran Affairs Federal Work-Study (VA-FWS):聽The Veterans Affairs (VA) Work-Study Program is a VA education benefit that serves as an additional allowance paid to students for performing VA-related activities. Students must be attending at a 3/4 time rate of pursuit to participate. Student Veterans may be eligible to work in positions serving veterans on campus or at approved off-campus organizations. You may be eligible for veterans work-study if you meet all of these requirements:

• You鈥檙e enrolled at least three-quarters time in a college degree, vocational, or professional program.
• You have found an open job either at a nearby VA facility or in a VA-related role at your school.
• You can finish the work-study contract while you still qualify for education benefits.
• You鈥檙e using an approved VA education benefits program to pay for your education or training.

Student Aid

New York Institute of Technology offers institutional and grant-funded student employment opportunities that support students in gaining meaningful work experience while contributing to campus programs, services, and initiatives. These positions may include hourly student aid roles, department-funded positions, grant-supported opportunities, and other approved student employment聽roles. Unless a specific position has additional eligibility requirements, these opportunities are open to matriculated students regardless of their financial aid package.

Graduate Assistantships

If you鈥檙e a full-time graduate student, we offer assistantships that match your skills and experience with jobs on campus. These may include:

• Assisting professors in a classroom, lab, or studio.
• Assisting with academic research.
• Supporting a department office or facility.

Graduate assistantships provide partial or total tuition remission in exchange for working a specific number of hours per week. Contact the director of the program for specific requirements and to find out what assistantships are available. 

Graduate assistantships are a form of tuition remission available to qualified students enrolled in New York Institute of Technology鈥檚 graduate degree programs.  

International Students

International students have several employment options available through 黑料导航, including on-campus Student Aid positions, Graduate Assistantships for eligible graduate students, and the International Student Employment Fund (ISEF) for students who may not qualify for Student Aid or Graduate Assistantship opportunities. These options are designed to help international students gain meaningful work experience, build professional skills, and contribute to campus programs and services while following applicable student employment and work authorization requirements.
