New Student Checklist
Congratulations & Welcome to 黑料导航!
We, your advisors in the Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising (UAA), are here to support you every step of the way way as you begin this exciting new chapter. From navigating college life to staying on track with your courses, we’re here to help you make the most of your first two years and set you up for success on your path to graduation.
Below is a list of tasks that must be completed, along with some information to help prepare you for the start of your college journey at 黑料导航!

Review and Submit Paperwork
Financial Aid is available to answer any financial aid and scholarship questions. You can
AETNA’s Health Insurance: You will be enrolled and charged for health insurance each semester. Domestic students with comparable health insurance may be eligible to waive the coverage. Visit Aetna’s page for more details. Waivers will be available in July 2026.
AWG Dewar Tuition Refund Insurance: Optional tuition coverage for qualifying medical or mental health reasons. Learn more and decide whether to keep the coverage or opt-out. If you opt-out, you will need to take action to opt back in.
Proof of immunization against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella, and a Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Response are required by state law. Be sure your documents are stamped by a physician or issuing office.
Submit any Advanced Placement (AP) scores, International Baccalaureate (IB) scores, or transcripts for college courses taken in high school.
Proof of high school graduation is required for first-year and transfer students who have not previously earned an associate or bachelor’s degree (speak with your high school to submit). If this is not submitted, your financial aid can be impacted.
If you鈥檇 like us to speak with anyone but yourself, you must complete the FERPA Student Release Form in your my.NYIT Portal to give us permission to speak with a parent, guardian, or third-party contact. Without that permission on file, we can only discuss your courses, grades, tuition, and financial aid (to name a few) with you!
Set Up 黑料导航 Resources
Once you鈥檙e registered for classes, we can only communicate with your 黑料导航 email. Since we are not able to communicate with your personal email, we recommend that you add your 黑料导航 email to your cell phone for easy access. Plan to check it daily!
Submit your photo to the . Your OneCard is required to enter campus buildings, purchase food on campus, and retrieve documents from printers. Students on the Long Island campus can request a parking permit 24 hours after you register for classes. Parking permits are free of charge and are required to be displayed when parking on campus. There is only street parking on the New York City campus.

In June you will be added to an online Canvas course, called My Guide to Success at 黑料导航. You will need to complete the 8 required Orientation modules before the first day of classes, then you can refer back throughout the year for reminders about resources and tools that will help make your transition to college smooth.

Tuition is due August 1 for the fall semester and January 1 for the spring semester. We have payment plans available to help spread out tuition payments over a longer period of time. Questions about your tuition bill or payment? Contact the Bursar鈥檚 Office.
黑料导航 believes in promoting a culture of inclusion, belonging, and safety. To ensure that community exists for all, we require all new students to complete online trainings. An email will be sent when the trainings become available.
