Academic Advisor Frequently Asked Questions

If a student is considering changing their undergraduate major, they should always consult with their academic advisor first, then follow the steps below:

  • Complete the聽.
  • Secure approval from the chairperson for their current major as well as the chairperson for their new major.
  • Find the chairperson by visiting the聽Find an Advisor听辫补驳别.
  • Send the completed form to the Registrar for processing.

Declaring a minor is easy. Students must:

  • Fill out the聽.
  • Contact the appropriate minor coordinator, who will provide details and sign off on the application.
  • Send the completed form to the 搁别驳颈蝉迟谤补谤鈥檚 office for processing.

Any undergraduate student who has a cGPA below a 2.0 will be placed on academic notice. To review a student’s academic standing, you may review their account in Navigate or their Term History in Peoplesoft.

Students who are on academic notice can and should be advised like any other student for a regular semester. All undergraduate students on academic notice are required to meet with their AEC Advisor prior to enrolling in order to review their academic plan and complete an academic notice acknowledgement contract. Only an AEC Advisor can remove the Advising hold associated with notice for the student.
