Rossi: Why聽Swimming is One of the Best Exercises

Amerigo Rossi, Ed.D., associate professor of interdisciplinary health sciences, is featured in a 聽article detailing the benefits associated with regular physical activity in a swimming pool. Along with being easy on the joints and reducing cortisol (stress hormone) levels, swimming鈥檚 鈥渞hythmic breathing and weightlessness can reduce anxiety,鈥 Rossi explains.

鈥淪wimming is one of the best exercises for long-term health because it鈥檚 low impact, strengthens the entire body, maintains range of motion, and maintains cardiovascular health,鈥 he says.

SWIMMER magazine is published by U.S. Masters Swimming, a nonprofit organization aimed at encouraging adults to take up swimming.
