New York Institute of Technology has elected three new trustees. An alumnus of the university鈥檚 medical school, a New York State Supreme Court judge, and an alumna of the university鈥檚 School of Architecture and Design are the newest members elected to the university鈥檚 governing board.   

Humayun 鈥淗ank鈥� Chaudhry (D.O. 鈥�91) is president and chief executive officer of the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States in Washington. D.C. The Hon. Angela G. Iannacci is an associate justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department. Additionally, returning to the board is Deborah Verderame (B.S. 鈥�83), principal of Verderame | Cale architecture pllc. She was a long-serving member of the board from 2007 to 2022 when she became a trustee emeritus; Verderame is now returning to actively participate as a trustee of her alma mater.

Humayun 鈥淗ank鈥� Chaudhry (D.O. 鈥�91)

is the president and chief executive officer of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) of the United States, which represents the nation鈥檚 state medical licensing boards and co-sponsors the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). From 2016 to 2018, he served as chair of the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA), which represents more than 123 members in more than 45 nations.

Chaudhry completed an internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, N.Y., followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at NYU Langone Long Island Hospital, where he spent an additional year as chief medical resident. He spent 14 years with the United States Air Force Reserve, rising to the rank of major and serving as a flight surgeon. He also served for two years as Suffolk County (N.Y.) Health Commissioner, overseeing 1,300 employees and a budget of $400 million.

He is a clinical associate professor at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., and co-author of Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine, 4th edition, and Medical Licensing and Discipline in America. Among many other professional distinctions and accomplishments, Chaudhry was recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine in 2016 as one of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders in America.

He is also a graduate of New York University and Harvard University鈥檚 T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Hon. Angela Iannacci

Justice Iannacci has served as an associate justice on the Appellate Division, Second Department since her May 2017 appointment to this appellate bench, which hears civil and criminal appeals from trial courts in New York City (Brooklyn and Queens), the Tenth Judicial District (Long Island), and the Ninth Judicial District (Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties), an area containing some 50 percent of the state鈥檚 population. She previously served as acting presiding justice and as an associate justice of the Appellate Term in the Ninth and Tenth Judicial Districts. She began her judicial career upon her 2004 election to the Nassau County Family Court. Later that year, she was appointed as an Acting Supreme Court Justice and, in 2006, was elected to Nassau County鈥檚 Supreme Court bench. Prior to joining the court system, Justice Iannacci managed her own law practice. She began her legal career as a litigation associate, employed by law firms in Long Island and Manhattan. With her special training as a certified Science and Technology Resource Judge, Justice Iannacci was appointed as co-chair of the New York Court System Artificial Intelligence Task Force, as co-chair of the Appellate Division, Second Department Artificial Intelligence Task Force, and as a member of the New York City Bar Association Presidential Task Force on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, Access to Justice Committee. She was also elected as a board member of the National Courts and Sciences Institute.

Justice Iannacci is a graduate of George Washington University and Pace University School of Law and was designated an International Commercial Arbitrator by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, England. Iannacci has also been involved in a wide range of professional and civic activities.

Deborah Verderame (B.Arch. 鈥�83)

Deborah Verderame, AIA, ASID, LEED AP, is currently senior partner of Verderame | Cale architecture pllc, and a strong client liaison and project administrator who provides strategic design direction and leadership to a variety of project types and client industries. With her degree in architecture, she joined and eventually co-managed Landy Verderame Arianna Architects. She personally oversaw its induction into the Women鈥檚 Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a recognized women-owned business enterprise (WBE). Verderame maintained, grew, and relaunched the business as Verderame | Cale architecture pllc in 2007, wherein she continues to oversee both large and small-scale interior architecture projects for major global corporate and educational institutions.   As a former managing partner and now principal, Verderame maintained and grew the legacy of the dynamic WBE over the past 30 years. She is a proven leader of complex fit-out and renovation projects and is known for her ability to lead a large team through a consensus-driven process focused on integrated design, workplace strategy, and technical innovation. Verderame is LEED (Leader in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited and has been recognized with several awards for her LEED-qualified projects. In addition to leading the staff at Verderame| Cale architecture pllc and her ongoing leadership role at 黑料导航, she spent several years on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America.
