Shaya Sheikh
School of ManagementShaya Sheikh, Ph.D., associate professor of quantitative and analytics, co-authored a paper, which was published in Social Sciences on November 11, 2022. The paper, which explores the impact of social media (SM) on the marketing goals of organizations in Iran during the COVID-19 pandemic, examines the extent to which firms utilize social media marketing to promote their products in Iran compared to the pre-COVID-19 era. The validity and reliability of the 279 survey results are confirmed using internal and external validity and Cronbach鈥檚 alpha. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between the use of SM and the distraction level. Moreover, the gender of the marketer has an impact on the perceived usefulness and application of SM. Finally, a positive effect of working hours per day on SM usage and marketing performance is observed.

Undergraduate Student Success & AdvisingRocio Morello, associate director, Office of Undergraduate Student Success and Advising, along with Monika Rohde, , Mohammed Moizuddin, presented a workshop on Achieving Collegiate Excellence (ACE): "A Collaborative and Holistic Approach to Student Success鈥� at the 2022 on November 11, 2022, at Stony Brook University. The workshop examined the development, outcomes, and continuous improvement of a student success program that mobilizes university faculty and staff to serve as academic coaches for students who would otherwise lose their institutional scholarships. Implemented in Fall 2019, students who completed the ACE program showed higher retention rates than the overall undergraduate population. The achievements of the ACE program started with a commitment to data-informed decision making and the ongoing success of the program is guided by college-wide support in putting students first.
Becky Frieden
ITSBecky Frieden, senior director of enterprise applications and decision support systems, participated in a fireside panel with Catherine Lloyd, former CDO of University of Wisconsin Madison, Janice Maxwell, director of IT operations at Georgia State University, and Vanessa Hammler Kenon, associate VP at University of Texas Austin, at the RTM Higher Education CIO Congress in Austin, Texas on November 8, 2022. The topic of the panel was "Strategies to Measure and Increase the Quality of Employee Well-being."
Lynn Rogoff
College of Arts and SciencesLynn Rogoff, M.F.A., adjunct associate professor of English, Department of Humanities, appeared on an episode of the Not As Crazy As You Think Podcast titled on November 6, 2022. Rogoff recently produced a shape-shifting Bird Woman, audio drama multi-episode series based on the Lewis and Clark Native American guide, Sacajawea. Bird Woman, a magical realism drama, discovers her supernatural shape-shifting powers as a part woman, part eagle, fighting alongside the expedition members.

Martin Gerdes, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, was recently honored by Schneps Media at its "" event, held at The Heritage in Farmingdale, N.Y., on November 3, 2022. Schneps Media鈥檚 A LIST recognizes the achievements and contributions of extraordinary men at the pinnacle of their careers from Manhattan to Montauk.

College of Engineering and Computing SciencesBatu K. Chalise, Ph.D., assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, with his former graduate student, Daniel Wong, now with Northrup Grumman, published their paper entitled in IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine on November 1, 2022.
Jon Michael Schwarting
ArchitectureJon Michael Schwarting, M.Arch., professor of architecture, and Frances Campani, M.Arch., associate professor of architecture, of Campani and Schwarting Architects, has been awarded a contract with the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson to execute a New York State grant for developing a climate resilience plan for the village watershed. The team also includes alumna Heather Korb. The contract, awarded November 1, 2022, includes the study and design of migration solutions for increased storm surges and stormwater runoff, as well as rising tide issues in this Long Island Sound harbor village.

NYITCOM at A-StateLillian Niwagaba, Ph.D., assistant professor and director of global health, and Sloane Kelley, director of the library and NYITCOM-Jonesboro, were honored with the DEI Unification Award from the American Osteopathic Association for their work on behalf of the NYITCOM DEI Committee. The award was presented at OMED on October 29, 2022.

casJonathan Goldman, Ph.D., professor of English, Department of Humanities, presented his digital humanities project, "NY1920s: When We Became Modern," at the on October 29, 2022, in Portland, OR.
Shinu Kuriakose
School of Health ProfessionsShinu Kuriakose, DHSc, PA-C, associate professor of physician assistant studies, presented at the 2022 New York State Society of Physician Assistants conference, held in Saratoga Springs, NY, on October 28 鈥� 30, 2022. Kuriakose spoke on "Pandemics and Mood Disorders," "Research Curriculum: Literature Review, IRB, to Submission," "Paradigm," and "Mental Health First Aid: CPR for the Soul." He also had five posters presented at NYSSPA in collaboration with the 黑料导航 PA students, including: "Do Clinical Providers鈥� Accents Influence Patients鈥� Perceptions of Competency?," "Social Stigma and STD Testing in Young Adults," "Adaptive and Maladaptive Perfectionism in PA Students' \nAttitudes Toward Psychiatry: A Cross-sectional Study of PA Students," and "PA Virtual Interviews: Faculty and Applicant Perspectives."
