Amanda Golden

College of Arts & Sciences / Humanities

Amanda Golden, Ph.D., associate professor of English in the Department of Humanities, co-chaired the local organizing committee for the held in Brooklyn, New York, from October 26 to 29, 2023. She and co-chairs, Patrick Deer (NYU), Matthew Hart (Columbia), and Nico Israel (Hunter College, CUNY Graduate Center), spent six years planning this major interdisciplinary, international conference that was initially to be held in 2020. The conference featured over 700 participants, including world-renowned scholars. Golden also co-organized the seminar, "Electrifying the Streets" on modernism and technology with Heather A. Love of the University of Waterloo; chaired a roundtable; and organized a publishing workshop and an excursion to the Brooklyn Museum.

Pablo Lorenzo-Eiroa, M.Arch., Ph.D., associate professor of architecture and author of , was reviewed by on October 25, 2023. The review discusses the use of robotics and artificial intelligence in architecture and urban design.

Colleen Kirk

School of Management

Research by Colleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., associate professor of marketing, was cited in an October 25, 2023, Psychology Today article titled Kirk’s experimental research, which was published in the in 2019, explains why dog owners are willing to spend more on their pets than cat owners.

Ehsan Kamel

The College of Engineering and Computing Sciences

Ehsan Kamel, Ph.D., assistant professor of energy management, accepted the AEE Northeast US Region \nEnergy Innovator of the Year Award for 2023. The award was presented at the the Conference and Expo on October 25, 2023, where came together to network, stay informed on the latest trends, and acquire tools and training needed to maintain a competitive edge. This award is presented to an individual for outstanding achievement and innovation in promoting the adoption of renewable, green, or other innovative energy technologies. Kamel’s research concentrates on creating physics-based large-scale building energy models, assessing the future impact of global warming on energy consumption, and addressing carbon dioxide emissions in the buildings sector.

Diana Moronta, M.S.L.I.S., was a panelist for , a panel discussion on the future of library leadership. The event was part of the Rest, Reset, and Re-Engage: Centering EDI in the New Normal symposium hosted by the Brooklyn Public Library and Metropolitan New York Library Council on October 24, 2023.

Andreas Theodoridis

Andreas Theodoridis, Ph.D., assistant professor in the architecture department, gave a lecture titled at Kean University, Michael Graves College, Robert Busch School of Design, School of Public Architecture, Union, New Jersey in October 2023. He was invited to speak as part of the Fall 2023 Public Lecture Series.

Sophie Christman

Sophie Christman, visiting assistant professor of humanities, was awarded a $1,000 grant from to support a Community Conversation at the New York City campus on "American Healthcare in the Big Apple."

Vidita Gawade

School of Management, Department of Business & Quantitative Analytics

Vidita Gawade, Ph.D.,assistant professor of Business & Quantitative Analytics in the School of Management, presented at the 2023 Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences Annual Conference as an Invited Talk under the Quality, Statistics, and Reliability (QSR) track on October 17, 2023. Her work explored Explainable Artificial Intelligence techniques to advance the understanding of convoluted links of process physics, online time series sensing data, and process anomaly of powder bed fusion processes (an additive manufacturing process). This contributes to the smart manufacturing world by providing better interpretation and trust of deep learning in 3D printing.

Dongsei Kim

School of Architecture and Design

Dongsei Kim, M.Des., assistant professor of architecture, had his research work, “A Construct The Koreas (Never) Made Together: Deconstructing the DMZ For The Imaginary – 2019," invited to the exhibition and displayed at the Korean Cultural Center Canada in Ottawa, Canada, from October 13, 2023, to January 27, 2024.

Colleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., associate professor of marketing, published a paper titled in the American Psychological Association's Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The paper was accepted for publication on October 9, 2023.
