Department of Mathematucs, College of Arts and Sciences.John Zweck, Ph.D., professor of math, in the College of Arts and Sciences, has coauthored an academic paper, "," in the journal Wind Energy" on September 10, 2026. The authors developed a computationally efficient method that uses sensor data to determine the severity of erosion of a wind turbine blade. This approach could be used in future digital twin models that monitor the structural health of wind turbine systems.

College of Arts and SciencesAmanda Golden, Ph.D., associate professor of English in the Department of Humanities, was interviewed with her co-author by Greg Barnhisel for "Fifteen years, 944 pages: Editing the Definitive Sylvia Plath" in the . The interview was published on September 9, 2026. Golden's work has also been reviewed in a number of literary publications.

The September 8, 2026, article addresses Solomon Riley, a Black businessman who planned an amusement park for Black customers on Hart Island in the East River in 1925鈥攚hen New York City operated under Jim Crow practices鈥攐nly to see the city government shut it down.

Subtitled, "an encyclopedic time capsule," the book provides a history of rapidly evolving technological advancements in a popular culture context. It was published by Peter Lang, Inc. on September 4, 2026.
Cameka Hazel
College of Arts and SciencesCameka Hazel, Ed.D., assistant professor of psychology and counseling in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Carol Dahir, Ed.D., adjunct professor of psychology and counseling in the College of Arts and Sciences, coauthored and published a research paper, "" on September 3, 2026, in Journal of School-Based Counseling, Policy and Evaluation. The article examined school counselors' experiences in implementing the updated New York State School Counseling Regulations in schools.

College of Arts and SciencesJohn Zweck, Ph.D., professor of math, in the College of Arts and Sciences, appeared on the to discuss the mathematical modeling he did in 2014 to search for the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared in the southern Atlantic Ocean. The August 29, 2026, podcast explains how data collected by an Inmarsat satellite was used in conjunction with mathematical modeling to predict the flight path of the aircraft after radar contact was lost.

This new take on an old field is being employed by the authors to develop numerical methods to determine the stability of lasers that produce ultra-short pulses of light for the high accurate measurement of time, distance, and frequency.

School of Architecture and DesignMaria Di Natale, B.Arch., visiting associate professor of architecture, was selected to participate in the program. The three-day symposium brought together educators from architecture schools nationwide to explore innovative approaches for preparing the next generation of architects. She presented a comprehensive lesson to her peers on August 8, 2026, simulating the first session of her professional practice course in a small-group setting.

It developed a 3D mesoscale finite element framework for skeletal muscle modeling and quantified effects of fascicle architecture and ECM volume on muscle mechanical behavior.
